New contract between EN motors and VRS Railway Industry strengthens 45-year partnership!

EN motors is taking a new step in its long-standing collaboration with VRS Railway Industry. Under the upcoming contract, EN motors will once again be responsible for the production and delivery of electric motors that reliably drive the barrier systems at railway level crossings in the Netherlands.

The contract covers the delivery of 1,000 motors in an initial phase, followed by an additional 1,000 motors plus 300 extra units in the subsequent years. Production of these specially developed DC motors follows a strict schedule: after a lead time of 32 weeks, the first motors will be delivered, followed by batches of 25 motors every two weeks.

These motors are designed for the so-called AHOB actuator—the installation responsible for opening and closing the barriers at every protected railway level crossing in the Netherlands. This is a precisely engineered technology operating at specific power outputs, speeds, and voltages, fully tailored to the requirements of VRS Railway Industry.

Quality is paramount at EN motors. These motors have been produced for more than 45 years, under strict inspection procedures: every motor is tested and approved for proper operation before delivery. This long track record underscores the trust and reliability that VRS Railway Industry places in EN motors.

The contract was officially signed by Maarten van Berkum and Stefan Naaktgeboren and has an initial term of two years, with an option to extend for a further three years.

With this new agreement, EN motors once again confirms that precision, durability, and safety go hand in hand within the Dutch railway network. A small but crucial component—the electric motor—continues to make a decisive difference in the safe passage of railway level crossings throughout the Netherlands.
